Stacy Avila

I Love U Guys Foundation, Adjunct Instructor

Stacy Avila received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Administration of Justice (emphasis in Psychology and Sociology) from the University of Wyoming in 1995.

Stacy began her career as a police officer for the City of Arvada, Colorado in 1996 and retired in 2017. During her twenty-one years with the Arvada Police Department, Stacy served as a Field Training Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Department Training Officer, and Hostage Negotiator.

Stacy served as a negotiator on the Jefferson County Regional SWAT team for fifteen years and was the primary negotiator during the Platte Canyon High School incident on September 27, 2006.

After that shooting she developed an over decade and a half-long trusting relationship with The I Love U Guys Foundation. Stacy began training along with John Michael Keyes, Executive Director of The I Love U Guys Foundation, in 2009.

Stacy became a highly trained Adjunct Instructor for The Foundation in 2019 and has conducted over seventy five Standard Response Protocol and Standard Reunification Method trainings, equating to over 700 hours of training, across the country.
