Opioid addiction is a problem that affects all socioeconomic classes in the United States. It typically starts with prescription pain killers and ultimately culminates with illicit street drugs. Anyone can become addicted, including members of your church. If someone were to have an overdose in your building, would you know what to do? Would you be able to save them? This presentation will cover the history and current climate of the unprecedented opioid addiction epidemic in the U.S., as well as information on how to properly administer an opioid antagonist such as Narcan, which is critical to fighting this epidemic.
