Critical Race Theory

Get a fairly recently dated $10.00 (or higher) bill in your hands. There are 4 clear numbers marked at the 4 corners of the face of that bill, indicating it’s value. The bottom right number however is a different color than the rest. Tilt it up and down in your fingers and you will see that bottom right number change colors between copper and green.

That’s just one of many ways to confirm currency authenticity. The U.S. Currency Education Program (USCurrency.gov) has many training resources on their website. One is a 41-page PowerPoint titled, “How to Check Your Money.” Designed to educate on how to detect counterfeit bills, there is not a single photo or illustration of a counterfeit bill in the document.

I’ve never studied Critical Race Theory, read a single news article about it, or listened to any talk-radio expert unpack it for me. I hear enough to know it’s a current buzz phrase, but I am not going to invest irredeemable time studying it.

Hebrews 12:1 (NIV)

We must always distinguish between opportunity and distraction. We’re only given just so much time, money and space to move in. I am very careful who I listen to, what information is pumped into me through radio and what I read.

There are times for entertainment and relief, but there is a race marked out for me. Getting bogged down in news, opinions, social theories and heavy pessimism is not conducive to that race.

What and how we study determines what we will become.
