15 Sep: GSX 2019 (Products)

ASIS International is the largest membership association of security professionals in the world. With 34,000 members in over 125 countries around the world, it is powerful. I attend the ASIS annual convention (Global Security Exchange, or GSX) at least every other year. This year it was in Chicago. It will take two weeks to give a decent report. This week, I will focus on the trade floor; companies unveiling their latest products for the coming year. Next week I will give you the top points of some of the educational sessions I attended. The trade floor had over 500 vendors. I visit those with products relative to church security operations. I am reporting my top three for this year. MADICO Safetyshield. Madico is a 115-year-old American manufacturer that introduced window films in 1948. By 1984 they were producing safety film coverings and have been improving the bullet and blast resistance…

08 Sep: The Devil With Sun Tzu

I just re-readThe Art of War. Many modern writers have reproduced those Chinese proverbs etched onto bamboo sticks in 450 BC +/- by Sun Tzu. The reproduction I read was by Samuel B. Griffith; a Marine Brigadier General. Griffith served in China before deploying to WW II. After the war he returned to China where he continued studying Chinese culture and battle history. Satan was such a powerful adversary to God that he persuaded 1/3 of the angels in his rebellion. He remains such a serious enemy, determined to destroy us.   Think about it… Read each of these lines from TAOW, as if Satan uses them to prepare attacks on you. You are the enemy as…

01 Sep: Intentions of Evil

The 21st through the 28th chapters of Matthew framed the last week of Christ’s time on earth. There is special meaning in the actions and teachings of Jesus in that significant week. 33 years as flesh on earth, and 3 years of teaching culminated that week. By chapter count, over 28% of Matthew’s chronicle of Jesus is on that one week. Mark is over 31% and Luke 26%. Nearly 48% of the book of John is on that one extraordinary week.  There are 2 parables of Jesus related to weddings and banquets in Luke 14 (prior to passion week) and one in Matthew 22 (during that extreme week). In each of those parables, Jesus talked of two primary groups of invitees; the friends and connections of the king (Jews) and the disconnected masses (Gentiles). The first two familiar pools of people, consistent in each parable, concluded similar to the parable Jesus told…
